St. Louis (M0) Parkway Central 2014 DE prospect Trey Knes 6'5" 220 4.65 forty time recently attended the University of Illinois' junior day event over the weekend and spoke to ShowMePreps.com about it.
"It was really cool," said Knes. "I really liked the atmosphere there and how everyone seemed like family. The coaches were all nice and down to earth, especially Coach Beckman. He was really nice to talk to. I also like how they are close to home."
Trey said that Illinois has taken a real interest in him as of late.
"Coach Salem recruits St. Louis and came by my school and talk to Coach Goldenberg about me. He said that he and the other Illini coaches really like my size and speed. They also like my intensity and how I play the game."
Knes, who plays middle linebacker for the Colts and totaled 102 tackles and 2 sacks along with 2 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions, has also been hearing from multiple other schools and plans on taking several junior day visits he has been invited to.
"The main schools I have been hearing from at Minnesota, Missouri, LSU,Ole Miss, Kansas State,Indiana,Memphis and Northern Illinois," said Knes." I plan on attending Minnesota's junior day this coming weekend, and then I was just invited to LSU's junior day and I will be attending that one,too. I would also like to attending Mizzou's and K-State's junior days as well that I know of."
I asked Trey about local school Missouri and Ole Miss.
"I went to several Mizzou games last year and have always liked them. And I am good friends with Andy Bauer and he took an unofficial visit there and said it was nice. I wouldn't mind playing with him in college,"he said.
