The attitudes and culture has changed in the last two years at Arkansas State.

In the past, players were content on making it to 6-6 and just being Bowl Eligible.

After last year's 10 win season, it has made this group of Red Wolves hungrier for success more now than ever.

Times have changed at Arkansas State.

Arkansas State (5-3) will head into Saturday's game with North Texas in Denton with the opportunity to become Bowl eligible with a win over the Mean Green.

Last week's big win over Louisiana Lafayette has given this Red Wolf a boost in confidence, something that some of the senior players on this football team are witnessing.

AStateNation.com recently caught up with two of ASU defensive leaders after a practice this week to get their thoughts on the subject.

"Confidence has been building for a while now," senior linebacker Nathan Herrold said. "It's been building, even from the WKU loss, it helped us explode against ULL."

Changing the culture from heading into a game just to compete to going into a game expecting to win appears to be driving this Arkansas State Football team to bigger and better things.

"We don't just want to get bowl eligible," Herrold said. "We want to win out. We know we can win the remaining games on our schedule if we go out and execute like we are capable of doing."

Senior defensive end Tim Starson agrees with his fellow teammate.

"It's amazing on how the culture and the community has changed here in the last two years," Starson said. "We are gaining a lot of confidence, our younger guys are now getting a taste of of the confidence we gained last year and it's getting better each week."

While both seniors admit that the Red Wolves are gaining confidence, they both realize the importance of staying focused this week against North Texas this week to achieve their goals of repeating as Sun Belt Conference Champions.

"We can't get complacent," Starson said. "We have to be focused this week and every week in this conference. We still haven't played our best defense."

This group of seniors don't want to settle with just becoming bowl eligible by knocking on the door, they want to knock the door down like they did last fall."?

"Winning out is our goal," Herrold said. "To win the conference again is our main focus, we won't settle for anything less."
