On Saturday June 23rd the Vashon Wolverines put on an impressive showing on their way to winning the 2nd annual St. Louis Metro Football Coaches Association Gold Division 7 on 7 tournament.
While it was a total team effort which led to their championship, which was decide with a win over DeSmet, several Wolverines stood out on the day including recent Iowa commit Derrick Mitchell, who excelled on offense and as a defender.
The Wolverines senior-to-be QB Deion Davis was on target most of the day, and did a nice job finding his receivers and delivering the ball.
Vashon teammates Anfernee McAtee, Brandon Jones, John Mitchell,Devin Hernon and Tavin Lott also stood out on the day.
Other standouts in the Gold Division pool at the event were Corey Winfield Riverview Gardens, Aarion Penton CBC, Jack Berry, Darian Harris, Thayer Weaver, Scott Sinovich DeSmet, Bobby Smith Hazelwood East.
